Term insurance kya hota hai? Seedha jawab: term insurance ek life insurance policy hai jo ek tay kiye gaye samay — term — ke liye life cover deti hai. Us term ke dauran, agar insured vyakti ki mrityu ho jati hai aur claim policy ki sharton ke anusar payable hai, to nominee ya beneficiary ko death benefit milta hai. Agar aap poori term tak zinda rehte hain, to ek typical pure term policy mein maturity par koi lump-sum “return” nahi milta.

In English: term insurance is life cover for a fixed period. You are paying for protection, not for a savings or investment payout at the end. That is why premiums are often lower than products that mix cover with a maturity benefit — you are mainly buying the risk cover.

Yeh article educational hai. Policy ke labh, exclusions aur claim conditions hamesha us policy ke documents se decide hote hain.

Simple example / Simple misaal

Maan lijiye ek hypothetical policy:

  • sum assured: ₹1 crore
  • policy term: 30 years
  • premium: jo aap aur insurer decide karte hain (age, health, lifestyle, cover — sab affect karte hain)

Agar 30 saal ke andar insured event hota hai aur claim payable hai, cover ka death benefit nominee tak ja sakta hai. Agar 30 saal baad aap zinda hain, pure term cover generally band ho jata hai bina maturity amount ke.

Isse log sochte hain: “Maine itne saal premium diya, wapas kuch nahi mila.” Value protection mein thi — us period mein jab financial gap bada hota.

Term insurance kis ke liye sochi jati hai?

Pehla sawal product nahi hai. Sawal yeh hai: agar aapki income kal ruk jaye, kisko financially dikkat hogi?

  • spouse ya partner
  • bachche
  • dependent parents

Agar koi aapki income par depend karta hai, life cover financial plan ka hissa ho sakta hai. Agar koi dependant nahi, koi badi liability nahi, aur assets kaafi hain, to need alag ho sakti hai. “Har kisi ko ₹1 crore term lena chahiye” ek planning rule nahi hai.

English: start with who would face a money gap if your income stopped — not with the cheapest premium for the largest number.

Cover kitna? Term kitni lambi?

Koi ek formula sab par fit nahi hota. Sochne layak pieces:

  • kitne saal family ko income replacement chahiye ho sakti hai
  • outstanding loans
  • bade future goals (jaise bachchon ki padhai) jo aapki income ke bina bhi poore karne honge
  • jo assets aur existing cover pehle se hain

Premium last mein aata hai — yeh protection ki keemat hai, need nahi. Term un saalon ko cover kare jo dependency ke saal hain: chhote bachche, bada loan, retirement se pehle ke saal. Sabse sasti ya sabse lambi policy automatically sahi nahi hoti.

Term vs investment-linked life insurance

Kai log poochte hain: “Wapas paisa milega kya?” Kuch products cover ke saath savings ya maturity-type benefit jodte hain. Unki premium aksar zyada hoti hai kyunki aap protection ke saath kuch aur bhi kharid rahe hote hain.

Pooriye: kitna cover, kitni keemat, kya conditions hain, aur extra premium ko kahin aur use karne ka opportunity cost kya hai. Koi structure har vyakti ke liye hamesha better nahi hota.

North Horizon ka starting point: insurance investment nahi hai — pehle protection sochiye.

Kharidne se pehle yeh poochiye

  1. Kaun meri income par depend karta hai?
  2. Kaunsi liabilities aur future goals reh jayengi?
  3. Kitna cover us gap ke kareeb hai — eligibility nahi, need.
  4. Policy kya cover karti hai, kya exclude karti hai?
  5. Proposal form par health aur lifestyle ki jaankari poori aur sahi hai? Galat ya chhupi hui jaankari claim par sawal khade kar sakti hai.

Sabse sasta quote tabhi compare karein jab cover, term aur conditions genuinely comparable hon.

The North Horizon perspective

Term insurance daulat banane ka product nahi hai. Hum shuru karte hain: agar main na rahu, family ke saamne kitna financial gap hai — aur usme se kitna insurance sambhal sakti hai?

Sawal ho to baat kijiye. Pehli conversation mein koi product push nahi hota.
